General Pest Control Program
Any successful program for managing pest infestation requires the cooperation of the facility
management, its tenants and the pest management provider or the pest control operator (PCO).
The presence of pests inside a structure is dependent on a number of factors including the facilities
location and landscape maintenance, and the quality of the overall pest management program.
Each facility has its own maintenance, sanitation, and pest infestation potential. The procedures
outlined below are general in nature and are meant to provide the guidelines on which to build a pest
a management program for a specific facility.
These specifications include the furnishing of all professional services, equipment, labor and
materials necessary to provide the pest control services described in this pest control program.
SCOPE OF WORK:
Pest control service stipulated by these specifications will be for the control of the following pests:
Ø Crawling insects (cockroaches and ants)
Ø Flying insects (mosquitoes and flies)
Ø Rodent (Trapping Only using glue boards)
These specifications, however, DO NOT include the control of termites or any unnamed
pests.
Only materials that are registered with the Philippine Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA) and
US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will be used in performing these services. All materials
that will be used in strict accordance with label directions. All spray materials will be of water based,
low odor type. A sample label of materials utilized will be included in the logbook that we will
provide.
SCHEDULE AND PROCEDURE
Zone Gard is highly committed in providing your residence with a quality pest control service to
immediately address pest problems. These techniques are designed to be extremely effective without
being obtrusive and cumbersome to the personnel.
Common areas of such as hallways, kitchen, comfort rooms, and garbage areas are the most likely areas for
cockroach activity and harborage. These pests are generally carried in on incoming food items or possibly
in the belongings of employees. These areas will require careful inspection and treatment, as necessary.
Three Step System has a unique approach in achieving cockroach elimination in most
situations. Details are as follows:
a. STEP ONE: Surface spraying. This is the most common treatment for crawling insects. This could be
done on areas where cockroaches are more likely to nest and breed in, considering that the areas do not have
any open wirings to prevent accidents
b. STEP TWO: Gel Baiting. Where other methods cannot be used, gel bait insecticides such as
(Fipronil bait) may be utilized - where this is permitted. Numerous placements of gel bait will be
applied in critical areas near cockroach harborages. Baits may also be placed on or under machines,
equipment, storage shelving, and other areas where this product may be of maximum benefit.
c. STEP THREE: Treatment of Cracks and Voids. Harborages where cockroaches are active or may
likely be found will be treated by cracks and crevice and void treatments utilizing residual insecticides
(only it is permitted). The location of cracks that require sealing will be identified to the facility.
Note: Materials for sealing gaps, cracks such as cement, silicone or other suitable materials are not included in
this program
B. FLIES AND MOSQUITOES
Most of the control efforts involving flying insects involve attracting as few insects as possible to the
building via good sanitation and proper lighting and then keeping doors closed as much as possible.
Zone Gard personnel can do little in the way of treatments to limit or reduce infestations of flies and
nighttime flying insects. He can, however, identify conditions contributing to flying insect invasions and detail
these on a sanitation report.
Sanitation generally refers to the removal of food and water sources that pests could potentially use to
survive. The amount of available food and water often is the factor that determines the size of the population
of certain insect pests particularly flies.
1 . The canteen/pantry areas, where food products are stored, prepared, eaten, or disposed will
require regular attention.
2 . The Garbage Area requires regular cleaning to limit it as a potential food source for pests and to
reduce food odors, which might attract flies. Disposing of food wastes inside plastic bags-when
possible-into dumpster helps reduce food odors and minimize clean up. Regular trash removal is
3 . Floor drains should be cleaned regularly to prevent flies from breeding in them.
Since many infestations of pests originate from outside of a facility, keeping the pests out by employing good
exclusion practices is a major factor in limiting pest infestations.
1. Any cracks and holes in the exterior where pests could enter particularly flying insects should be
properly sealed.
2. All doors and windows should have tight-fitting or weather-stripping around all edges.
3. Doors should remain closed except when in uses. If a doorway is kept open for ventilation
purposes, then a screen door or screen framed should be installed in the doorway. Most
problems involving flies and flying insects can be traced back to this factor.
4. Trash bin covers will be helpful in order not to attract flies or any other pests.
c. NON-RESIDUAL INSECTICIDE APPLICATION
The use of insecticides to control flies and mosquitoes will include application of non-residual space
treatments to contact and kill adult flies inside. In doing this, monthly misting and surface spraying
inside all areas is recommended. This will be done in accordance with a pre-arranged schedule of the
treatment. Besides, larvicidal application of known breeding places and harborages of flies and mosquitoes
will also be carried out.
